Seattle, Washington, has an ancient
history. The area has been inhabited by humans for more than
4,000 years, though the first European settlers only arrived
in the mid-19th century.
Rather than Latin music or Cuban
music, the city is known for grunge music, which was invented
here.
Don't let that fool you, though;
Seattle is still a great place to see a Latin dance show or enjoy
a Cuban theme party or Latin theme party.
Seattle, now the largest city
in the Pacific Northwest, became a major transportation hub during
the Klondike Gold Rush. It then became an important hub for the
lumber trade. More recently, it was a major center for shipbuilding
and aviation in the 20th century.
Today it is home to many well
known technology companies and is also the birthplace of many
famous coffee brands such as Starbucks.
Salsa dancers looking for a tropical
Caribbean climate won't find it here. Seattle's climate is almost
Mediterranean, thanks to its proximity to the Puget Sound, Lake
Washington and the Pacific Ocean.
Thanks to the cloud which covers
the city for more than 200 days each year, Seattle is often overcast.
Daytime temperatures in December and January are around 46F,
while summer days are usually a warm 76F.
